šŸ¤“ Travel Trivia Tuesday

Let’s have a little fun with some niche airport trivia today:

Keep reading the newsletter to find out the answer later on. šŸ‘‡

āœˆļø Flying Blue Promo Rewards (November)

Flying Blue is out with their newest batch of monthly Promo Rewards. Yay!

As has been the case in recent months, this month’s list is also really interesting: It includes economy, premium, AND business-class deals, along with a new twist we haven’t seen before (I think).

What are Promo Rewards?

Promo Rewards are 25% discounts on award flights offered by Flying Blue (the points program of KLM and Air France).

Every month, they publish a list of eligible destinations operated by KLM and Air France themselves (not partner airlines), which always includes a large number of North American cities.

Here is how the prices shake out for typical awards before and after this discount:

  • Economy class: 18,750 miles (down from 25,000)

  • Premium Economy: 30,000 miles (down from 40,000)

  • Business class: 45,000 miles (down from 60,000)

āš ļø Disclaimer: These prices are for Flying Blue’s new lowest pricing tier, which is now extremely restrictive and cannot be changed or canceled. Please check the booking terms before locking in any flights.

To get these prices, you need to book flights by the end of November, but travel can take place all the way through April 30, 2027.

Which routes are on sale this month

For economy, you can travel between Europe and the following U.S. cities for just 18,750 miles:

  • Washington (IAD)

  • Los Angeles (LAX)

  • Dallas (DFW)

  • Chicago (ORD)

  • Portland (PDX)

  • Minneapolis (MSP)

  • Atlanta (ATL)

  • Las Vegas (LAS)

Plus, Canadian cities like Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR) are also on the list.

For premium economy, you can fly between Europe and San Diego (SAN) or Montreal (YUL) for just 30,000 miles, which is a solid deal.

Finally, there’s one business-class deal from New York City to Europe for 45,000 miles each way, which is definitely the best deal of the bunch.

There isn’t a ton of availability at this price, but head over to Daily Drop Pro like I did if you want to search around and find the gems:

There’s something new this month, too

Typically, Promo Rewards are for flights to/from Europe, connecting in Paris or Amsterdam.

This month, however, I noticed that there are deals between the U.S. and Africa/Asia, connecting in Europe.

For example, Houston or Atlanta to Beijing is just 30,000 miles in Economy:

The routes are niche… and flying via Paris makes for a long journey. But hey, it’s a stellar deal.

I also saw that New York or Toronto to Nairobi cost just 48,750 miles in premium economy – another stellar deal.

I’m not sure if these are errors, or if Flying Blue is branching out and trying new things. If it is deliberate, I’m happy to see them innovating on Promo Rewards.

How to get Flying Blue miles

The best part about Promo Rewards is the fact that every major bank and transferable points program allows transfers to Flying Blue.

Sometimes, there’s even a transfer bonus…

…like right now. šŸ‘‡

šŸ’³ 20% transfer bonus to Flying Blue

That’s right – the same day those Promo Rewards dropped, Capital One dropped a 20% transfer bonus to Flying Blue, valid through November 30.

So all of those deals I mentioned can be booked for 20% less.

For example, those 45,000-mile flights from New York to Europe are now just 37,500 Capital One miles.

The Premium Economy deals for 30,000 miles now require just 25,000 Capital One miles, which is an amazing compromise between comfort and price.

(Side note: Miami is NOT on this month’s list of Promo Rewards, but is still discounted in Premium Economy on some days… there are lots of happy errors like that floating around with Flying Blue šŸ˜‰).

If you recently earned the elevated welcome offer on the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, this is a GREAT way to put those miles to use.

šŸ‘‰ If you don’t have the card yet, the elevated welcome offer is still active: enjoy $300 to use on hotel and vacation rental bookings through Capital One Travel in your first cardholder year, plus earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. šŸ‘ˆ

Those 75,000 miles could book you a round-trip, business-class flight to Europe when you combine the transfer bonus and Promo Rewards… just to give you a taste of what you’re missing. šŸ˜‰

Anyway, this transfer bonus is good for more than just Promo Rewards.

For example, I recently redeemed 15,000 Flying Blue miles for a domestic business-class flight on Delta:

Another side note: Isn’t it sweet how Daily Drop Pro shows you when there’s a transfer bonus available for a specific redemption?

Okay, okay, I’m done talking about Daily Drop Pro now.

Anyway, with a 20% bonus, that’s just 12,500 Capital One miles for domestic business class, or 4,000 miles to fly economy… which is insanely cheap.

My friends… this is why you simply need to have the Venture Card in your wallet.

Get the card, get some miles, transfer those miles, and enjoy your free(ish) luxury flights. šŸ„‚

PRESENTED BY AG1

šŸŽ„ The holiday travel season hero

Fall is quickly sliding into the holidays, which means for the next two months, there’s a good chance that on any given day I’m surviving on airplane snacks, Thanksgiving leftovers, or Christmas cookies.

But even with the ups and downs of being on the go and the chaos of the holidays, AG1 Pro makes it easy to stay consistent.

With ingredients like creatine monohydrate and Ca-HMB, plus a comprehensive blend of vitamins to keep me feeling strong and energized, plus zinc carnosine, ginger, and triphala to give my digestive system the support it desperately needs. šŸ™

AG1 Pro provides key nutrients to fill gaps in my admittedly chaotic diet this time of year and supports flagging energy levels when red-eyes and late-night Christmas parties start to take a toll.

Not to mention, it helps my body manage the stress of last-minute holiday shopping, weather delays, and any awkward conversations with extended family around the dinner table. šŸ˜…

And the immune system support is a big win in my book this time of year, when it feels like the cold and flu are lurking around every corner.

Go into the holiday season with some ease on your side with AG1 Pro and head to drinkag1.com/karaandnateNL to get a free Immune Support Bundle (Omega-3 Fish Oil + Vitamin D3+K2, a $90 value) with your first subscription order.

šŸŒŽ Trivia Reveal

Earlier, I listed out a bunch of fun airport codes and asked you which one was the fake.

If you guessed DAD, then I have to say: OMG, THT SUX… because DAD is actually real.

So are OMG, THT, and SUX.

The fake one is WTF.

Here’s a little map showing where the real airports lie in the world. šŸ‘‡

  • DAD is Da Nang, Vietnam

  • SUX is Sioux City, Iowa

  • THT is Tamchakett, Mauritania

  • OMG is Omega, Namibia

And before you try to stump me with your own, LOL, BRB, IDK, and SMH are all real too.

They’re in Nevada, Brazil, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Have you been to any of these airports? If so, which ones? Reach out and let me know the funniest airport code you’ve ever traveled to. šŸ¤—

That’s all for today, friends! I hope you enjoyed these two deals that are a match made in heaven.

Happy flying and see you tomorrow!

With contributions by Sam Anthony and Katie Begnoche.
