Cardholders can earn heaps of points when staying at IHG properties and receive other exclusive perks. Given IHG's massive global footprint and attractive new IHG One Rewards program, this card has become a lot more interesting in recent months. Plus, the usually generous welcome offer on a $99 card is quite good. If you aren't already interested in IHG hotels, you might be after seeing this offer.

At Daily Drop, our mission is simple: to help you explore the world affordably and experience life-changing travel by maximizing miles and points. Our team of travel and credit card experts is here to help you make decisions about which cards belong in your wallet. Based on your travel goals, we offer unbiased advice to help you make the best choices. Keep in mind that our suggestions require responsible credit card use.
Here at Daily Drop, we score credit cards using a proprietary formula based on dozens of metrics across six key categories: annual fee, welcome offer, rewards rates, redemption value, benefits & perks, and travel protections. Higher scores indicate better overall value.
We net the annual fee against statement credits you'll likely use and focus on a welcome offerโs true return on spending (ROI) rather than just the headline number. We value rewards by their actual worth in cents per point, which is why flexible, transferable points typically score highest. APR is not a standalone scoring category because we recommend paying in full to maximize points and miles, but an intro 0% APR counts as a perk.
Our reviews are editorial and experience-driven. Our team has earned and redeemed millions of miles and points and tested these cards around the world. After all, we would not be Daily Drop if we were not practicing what we preach.

The New IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card just got a glow-up, and it's still one of the best ways to turn everyday spending into free hotel nights. Right now you can earn 180,000 bonus points with a limited time launch offer, which is enough for several nights at IHG properties around the world. The annual fee went up to $150, but the card added some new perks to help balance it out. You'll get up to $100 in Food & Beverage Rewards each year at IHG Hotels & Resorts, automatic Gold Elite status, and 15 Elite Night Credits each year to help you climb the status ladder faster. Plus, you still get an Anniversary Free Night every year, which on its own can go a long way toward covering the fee. Grocery stores also now earn 5x points, so your weekly grocery run is working toward your next stay. Chase says the card offers over $700 in value your first year. This card is perfect for frequent travelers and anyone who loves staying at IHG properties, whether that's a luxury InterContinental or a quick weekend at a Holiday Inn.

When it comes to IHG Rewards Points the best way to maximize your points is to redeem them with travel.
โ
[.dontreco]ย We donโt recommend: Redeeming for Cash Back [.dontreco]ย
Using your points for cash back typically provides a lower value than redeeming for travel.
โ
[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend: Booking through the IHG Portal [.sometimesreco]
You can redeem your points for hotel stays directly through the IHG portal, but this usually gives you a value of 0.5 cents per point or less. While this is a decent option, itโs still not the best.
โ
[.alwaysreco] We always recommend: Using Points for Free Nights [.alwaysreco]
Redeeming points for free nights at IHG hotels provides the best value. This can give you more than 0.7 cents per point, especially if you take advantage of promotions and the fourth-night free benefit.
โ
Don't sleep on the grocery category. The card now earns 5x points at grocery stores, so putting your regular grocery spending on it is one of the easiest ways to rack up points toward your next free night.
While the IHGย One Rewards Premier Credit Card does have certain airline and hotel transfer partners, those ratios do not provide the best value for your points...or really any value for that matter.

Why? The IHG One Rewards Premier Card pairs well with the Chase Sapphire Preferredยฎ Card for those looking to optimize their travel rewards. The IHG card focuses on maximizing points at IHG properties, while the Sapphire Preferred gives you points on dining and travel, which can be transferred to IHG or other travel partners. This combination allows you to earn points on hotel stays and everyday travel expenses, with the flexibility to redeem through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal or transfer to various airline and hotel programs.
Why? Combining the IHG One Rewards Premier Card with the Chase Freedom Unlimitedยฎ creates a well-rounded strategy for earning rewards on all your purchases. The IHG card rewards you (like a lot) for staying at IHG properties, while the Freedom Unlimited offers 1.5% cash back (or 1.5x points) on every purchase. Since Freedom Unlimitedโs points can be transferred to your IHG account when paired with a premium Chase card, you can turn everyday spending into free nights at IHG hotels, making this duo a powerful tool for maximizing your miles and points.
Why? Pairing the IHG One Rewards Premier Card with the World of Hyatt Credit Card is a smart strategy for travelers who enjoy staying at both IHG and Hyatt properties. The IHG card offers substantial rewards on IHG hotel stays, including Platinum Elite status and an anniversary free night award. The World of Hyatt card complements this by earning points on Hyatt stays, dining, and fitness club memberships, along with automatic Discoverist status. Together, these cards allow you to maximize rewards and enjoy elite benefits across two major hotel chains, providing tons of flexibility.
If you frequently find yourself booking stays at IHG properties like InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, or Holiday Inn, the IHG One Rewards Premier Card is a must-have in your wallet. You'll get automatic Gold Elite status, plus 15 Elite Night Credits every year to help you reach higher status tiers faster. You'll also get up to $100 in Food & Beverage Rewards each year at IHG Hotels & Resorts and an Anniversary Free Night, which together can go a long way toward covering the annual fee. For loyal IHG customers, these benefits plus the potential to earn tons of bonus points make this card a no-brainer.
โ
For those jet-setting often, the IHG Premier offers super solid value. The card earns up to 24x total points per $1 at IHG Hotels & Resorts, plus 5x points on flights booked directly, car rental agencies, gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. Those points add up fast, so you can enjoy free nights at IHG properties worldwide. Add in the Anniversary Free Night and the fourth-night-free benefit on award stays, and this card can save frequent travelers a lot of money on hotels.
Hereโs a good rule of thumb: You probably shouldnโt own a credit card if you: (1) have a bad credit score, (2) are a non-U.S. resident (for this particular card), and (3) cannot control your spending. If your credit score is low, you'll need to improve it before applying for travel credit cards, as approval for the best ones, like the IHG Rewards Premier, is unlikely. Be honest with yourself: if a new credit card will tempt you to overspend, it's best to avoid it. Credit cards are crucial for earning miles and points, but they require responsible use.
A good to excellent credit score is recommended for the New IHG Rewards Premier Card.
The sub on this card allowed our family of 3 to stay in NYC during Christmas in an awesome hotel for free. The cash cost was around $2k during that time. This card is great because of the 4th free night.

I got this Card when there was the 120000 sign up points, I plan on using this for a couple of vacations. I end up having more hotels from IHG in the area than any other in the small towns I've been going to so it works out well
โ
We have three reward cards. IHG is the card we use the most. With the points earned, both by purchases and stays, we are able to stay at many different locations that fit our travel plans. We are also able to book rooms using points for family members that are traveling to visit without any trouble. There are a few occasions that there is limited room availability with reward points, but we usually can adjust plans. With IHG, you know pretty much what you are getting with this hotel chain.
